On March 9, 2017, Jessica Atkins completed her life. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, doula, midwife and mentor. All who knew her, loved her.
Jessica was a bright light in this world. For those who knew her intimately, she was fiercely devoted to her husband and children. For those who knew her professionally, she worked tirelessly to improve the childbirth experience for many families.
In Jessica's lifetime, she was part of hundreds, if not thousands of births, both as a doula and as a midwife.
In addition to her practice as a doula and a midwife, she was also a DONA (Doulas of North America) trainer, training thousands of women, across the country, to become doulas.
She was passionate about helping people. She was involved in many organizations dedicated to assisting low income, single, teenage, and other under-supported women in their childbirth experience. She also provided countless scholarships for doula training.
